Sightings 23/1/16

Easton (Bristol):
Greenbank Cemetery: 1 Ring-necked Parakeet this morning (Michael Davis). Possibly the bird seen at St George on 5 January.

Eastville Lake (Bristol):
2 Firecrest. Past the broken kissing gate, then up the hill to the old garden wall on the left.
Other stuff, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Jay, 4 Goldcrest, 15 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Dipper, 2+ Treecreeper.

Bristol Centre:
New Cut: 1 Common Sandpiper, by the Riverside Garden Centre.

Westbury-on-Trym (Bristol):
Badock's Wood: 1 Dipper again, footbridge on river Trym off Doncaster Rd.

Marshfield:
10 Red-legged Partridge, 2 Merlin (m+f Rushmead Lane end but not together), 50 Corn Bunting of note. The peace disturbed by shooting parties and model aircraft enthusiasts.

Inglestone Common:
2 Kestrel, 1 Barn Owl, late afternoon.

Chipping Sodbury:
Common: 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Kestrel, 2 Stonechat.

Westerleigh:
1 flyover Raven.

Overscourt Woods:
15+ Green Woodpecker, 6+ Great Spotted Woodpecker (Anthony Goodwin).

Warmley:
Ring Rd roundabout: 1 Sparrowhawk.

Oldbury Power Station:
4 Grey Plover, 7 Stonechat, 25 Meadow Pipit, 1 Water Pipit (coastal path to yacht club), 1 flyover Siskin, 2 Redpoll.

Littleton Warth:
Low Tide count: 2 Pintail, 1 Snipe, 29 Redwing, 7 Rock Pipit.

New Passage-Northwick:
8 Mute Swan, 1 Greylag Goose, 15 Canada Goose, 37 Shelduck, 25 Shoveler, 2 Little Egret, 1 Peregrine, 3 Water Rail, 200+ Lapwing, 1 Knot, 800 Dunlin, 10 Snipe, 55 Turnstone, 2 Stock Dove, 2 Green Woodpecker, 1 Raven, 3 Water Pipit still, 1 Yellowhammer.

Portishead:
Boating Lake: 4 Mute Swan, 1 Greylag Goose, 10 Tufted Duck, 2 Rock Pipit.
Marina: 1 fly-through Buzzard, it flew right down the main run over the boats. Other stuff, 5 Mute Swan, 18 Canada Goose.
Gordano School 22/1/16: 2 Mistle Thrush.

Kenn Moor:
40 Mute Swan, 2 Cormorant, 2 Little Egret, 5 Buzzard, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Goldcrest, 100 Starling, 100 Fieldfare, 2 Treecreeper,  3 Stonechat, 12 Goldfinch, 12 Siskin.

Congresbury Moor:
3 Buzzard, 1 calling Tawny Owl, 2 Goldcrest, 1 Song Thrush, 3 Reed Bunting.

Uphill:
2 Short-eared Owl this afternoon.

Beach Rd: 2 Dartford Warbler.
Now unfortunately being disturbed by one or two over-zealous 'birders'.

Siston Brook: 2 Dipper.

Backwell Lake:
12 Little Egret into roost, fly-ins from 3.30pm onwards.
Other stuff, 6 Mute Swan, 10 Canada Goose, 1 Shoveler, 4 Pochard, 4 Tufted Duck, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Little Grebe, 47 Woodpigeon, 5 Long-tailed Tit.

3 Black-necked Grebe, 1 Mediterranean Gull in the evening roost.

Planet Chew:
3 Goosander (Herriott's), 1 Mediterranean Gull (HG).
