Sightings 22/7/16

22/7/16 Common Tern (Mrs Trellis)
RSPB Ham Wall

Woodlark: 1 heard calling at an undisclosed North Somerset site on 13 July (George Rabin, aged 14). Very unusual for our area and the date cannot exclude possible breeding which makes it even more unusual.

We thought..aaah ha...up and coming young birder is hearing things....and we were all for trashing the claim out of hand but unfortunately George sent in an accompanying audio clip and circumstances of the discovery both of which sound convincing....and the Recorder likes it too...double bummer!
We'll have to wait and see if the record (ooh pun, sorry) gets accepted.
