28th July '17 Friday - Swifts

Always grey and chilly with periods of drizzle

Lots of Swifts around at  Chew today perhaps 250+: they will all be going abroad by the end of next month.

Chipping Sodbury Common:
25 Canada Goose, Little Egret, Kestrel, 2 Linnet, 3 Redstart, 2 Swifts, Swallows and House Martins


Wain's Hill:

Heron's Green:
1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Yellow legged gull (2nd summer),  2 Little Grebe,  1 Little Egret,
1 Egyptian Goose, 179 Canada Geese, 50+ Swift,  100+ House Martin

3 Raven, 1 Marsh Harrier (2.15 pm in front of sailing club and Woodford Lodge), 1 Green sandpiper,
2 Jay. Lots of Reed Warblers(reeds in front of hide), 1 Reed bunting, 78 Great Crested grebe (all fishing together with 4 GBB Gull looking for a chance to take a fish)

Herriotts End:
1 Marsh Harrier (juv), 1 Garganey, 3 Lapwing, 1 Shelduck (duckling), 1 Yellow legged Gull (juv), Med Gull (juv), 2 G BB Gull, 80+ Swift, 100+ House Martin, 40+ Sand Martin

50+ Swifts (over a maize field)
