Hot and sunny in morning - becoming increasingly muggy. Localised downpours in afternoon - even thunder in some places. Some rain at last!

BOC is holding its second Peregrine Watch on the  Circular Road at Durdham Downs, Bristol,  ST563741, this Saturday and Sunday, 9-5. All welcome: come along to say hello and to enjoy the birds.

WeBS count - 25 Mallard (plus one female with two tiny ducklings in Sea Mills harbour), 1 Lapwing, 4 Common Sandpiper, 4 Redshank, 52 Black-headed Gull, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 1 Herring Gull

Also at Sea Mills stretch in small area of reeds, 3 singing Reed Warbler, 1 Grey Wagtail

Lower Redland Road -  1 f Tawny Owl calling (11.55pm on 12th) plus 7 Swift screaming  this morning

4 Little Egret feeding in tidal channel below Aust Service Station from viewpoint mid-afternoon
         
Bradley Brook LNR:
2 Stock Dove, c150 Woodpigeon, ≤7 Green Woodpecker, 1 Jay, 2 Raven, 1 singing Skylark, 1 singing Chiffchaff (plus one skulking), 2 singing Blackcap plus 2 fem/juv, 1 singing Song Thrush (plus one foraging), 1 juv Robin, 1 singing Dunnock, 2 Bullfinch
Plus up to 20 Rabbit, and 2 frolicking Red Fox cubs within 5m (unusually close outside of the cities)

Chipping Sodbury Common:
1 Whinchat

NORTH SOMERSET

Sand Point/Bay:
2 Oystercatcher, 2 Whimbrel, 44 Curlew, 2  Sand Martin (on the wires with Swallows in Sand Bay).
A little quiet at the point with a juv Green Woodpecker new in.
