30-12-24 Monday - Great Northern Diver

Temp 08°C to 09°C Anticyclonic gloom for most of the day again. Thankfully, a force 2 SW wind helped to blow all of the mist away.

Still a few decent birds on the lakes/reservoirs with many observers enjoying the Slavonian/Black-necked Grebes at CVL and the GND at Barrow.

Forecast looks windy for the next couple of days so this should bring in some seabirds. Arrival of colder weather at the end of the week should also give waterfowl numbers a welcome boost.

23-12-24 Monday - Siberian Chiffchaff

Temp 6°C to 8°C - Some sun and a bit more light, though largely overcast with some light showers. A moderate NW/SW wind, gusts to 20mph.

Slightly early, but Happy Christmas/festive period to all our readers and contributors. Thank you for reading the blog and/or sending your records in, however you do it. Hopefully some of the current birds stick around into 2025 to start the year off well. Thanks also to each of the small blog team who give their time to collate the sightings. Finally a big thanks to R, who after many years of looking after the blog has stepped down, without him, we almost certainly wouldn't be reading this blog.
