3/7/16 Adder (Dave Hughes)
on the Mendips

Cumberland Basin (Bristol):
Baltic Wharf: 1 2nd summer Mediterranean Gull, near the caravan site 10am with some BH Gulls (Mike Salter). Unusual location for this species.

Ashton (Bristol):
North St: 5 flyover Raven to north 1.30pm.

Marshfield:
West Littleton Down: 1 Buzzard, 4 Raven, 12 Skylark, 6 Whitethroat, 6 Yellowhammer, 3 Corn Bunting.

Oldbury Power Station:
Morning stuff, 36 Canada Goose, 6 Grey Heron, 1 Little Grebe, 3 Oystercatcher, 33 Curlew, 2 Common Sandpiper (shore), 1 Green Sandpiper (lagoon 3 scrape), 1 Grasshopper Warbler (Yacht club reeds), seen and heard (Andy Middleton).

New Passage-Northwick:
Wetland stuff, 2 Shelduck broods (shore-side), 1 Little Egret, 3 Grey Heron, 11 Little Ringed Plover, 6 Lapwing, 8 Dunlin, 1 Snipe, 2 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Common Sandpiper, 19 Redshank, 1 Kingfisher.

Portbury Wharf:
9 Mute Swan + 4 cygnets, 6+ Gadwall, 3 Tufted Duck, 2 Little Grebe, 2 Oystercatcher. Exciting is not the word...

Clevedon coast:
Wain's Hill-Yeo Est: 3 Mute Swan, 20 Canada Goose, 50 Shelduck, 70 Mallard, 11 Tufted Duck, 6 Little Egret, 3 Grey Heron, 12 Oystercatcher, 3 Dunlin, 3 Black-tailed Godwit, 5 Whimbrel, 60 Curlew, 2 Common Sandpiper, 105 Redshank, 180 BH Gull, 80 LBB Gull, 25 Herring Gull, 3 Swift, 1 Sand Martin, 5 Swallow, 5 Rock Pipit, 5 Pied Wagtail, 1 Reed Bunting.

Dolebury Warren:
1 Spotted Flycatcher, 1 singing Tree Pipit (possible breeder?), 2 calling Crossbill (Paul Bowyer).

Langford:
1 Hoopoe this morning (per Paul Bowyer), present in a private garden, unfortunately with minimal public views. ST 474599.

Batheaston:
1 flyover Red Kite 1pm to south (Brian Edge).

Bath:
Chilcombe Bottom: 1 Little Grebe + chick, Moorhen + young.

Backwell Lake:
1 Mute Swan pair + 8 cygnets, 1 Grey Heron, 1 BH Gull, 2 LBB Gull, 4 Swift, 23 Jackdaw, 2 House Martin, 3 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 3 Reed Warbler.

Barrow Tanks:
4 Mute Swan, 2 Mallard broods, 55 Tufted Duck, 4 Cormorant, 3 Grey Heron, 8 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 3 Common Sandpiper, 2 Redshank, 3 Swift, 3 Goldcrest, 11 Sand Martin, 3 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcap, 1 Song Thrush, 6 Grey Wagtail, 12 Pied Wagtail.
BG village: 2 Buzzard.

42 Mute Swan + 2 cygnets, 95 Canada Goose, 2 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Common Sandpiper, 1 Redshank (dam), 8 BH Gull, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Nuthatch, 3 Spotted Flycatcher, 3 Brown Hare.
