Not the photo competition but photos for the Avon Bird Report

Dear Photographer

This is a request for photos for possible inclusion in the next Avon Bird Report.

Photos must (with a few exceptions) have been taken in Avon in 2016. I assume most of you use electronic recording now but paper prints/slides could also be considered. Ideally a fairly low resolution version should be sent in the first place via e-mail or on a CD, and if you use one of yours we can later ask you to send a high resolution version which in most cases should exceed 2mpc. There are basically two types of photo needed. First record shots of varying quality showing something unusual, for example the Guillemot at Charfield in Feb 2015, or a bird showing unusual plumage or behaviour. Secondly we are looking for good quality shots of any of our birds. Here we are looking for species not seen in recent Reports. So for example we would not publish another photo of a Purple Sandpiper or a Grey Phalarope, for instance, unless it was quite exceptional.

Our photo editor is Nigel Milbourne, but in the first instance could you please send you files to me at this e-mail address, and if CD's or prints to me at: Arncliffe, Coast Road, Walton Bay, Clevedon, BS21 7FW. I look forward to seeing your best photos sometime in the next few weeks.

Yours sincerely
Harvey Rose (Editor ABR)
