30-11-19 Saturday - Merlins

Mainly overcast and still much colder, c.6 °C, with a brisk East wind.  Dry, but very wet underfoot.

1 f. Goosander, 11 Cormorant, 62 Goldfinch (in a single flock).

Redland garden:
2 Collared Dove, 1 Jay, 2 Magpie, 1 Coal Tit, 3 Blue Tit, 2 Great Tit, 1 Wren, 1 Robin. 8+ House Sparrow.

Brentry, BS10:
Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Blackcap (first of the winter).

3+ Black Redstart. also a mystery large pipit flew over but not relocated, 135 Fieldfare over.

Northwick Warth:
2 f. Merlin, Canada Goose, Gadwall, Wigeon, Teal, Tufted Duck, Grey Heron, Moorhen, Lapwing, Curlew, Redshank, Kestrel, Redwing, Linnet, Greenfinch.

5 Turnstone.

24 Mallard, 9 Goosander (3 m.), Little Grebe, Grey Heron, Little Egret, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Kestrel, 10 Moorhen, Kingfisher, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Goldcrest, 150+ Starling, 9 Fieldfare, 21 Redwing, Pied Wagtail.

Kingston Seymour:
30 Lapwing, 1 Barn Owl, 250 winter thrushes (mainly Redwing) heading North over Clevedon.

Nailsea Moor:
20 Lapwing, 6 Snipe, 1 Merlin, 4 Stonechat, plenty of Fieldfare and Starling, lower numbers of Redwing.

1 Peregrine.
