[*species named by Owen, aged 6. This individual has been a regular visitor to our feeders during the past week. It has lost both tail feathers but appears to be functioning normally otherwise. It can balance and fly; it associates with other LTTs. Dates all wrong for a moult, so perhaps the victim of an attack by a predator e.g. Sparrowhawk or cat? Have never seen this before - has anyone else?]

Updates on ringed birds:

1. Long-tailed Tit

08-03-21 Long-tailed Tit ringing recovery (Michael Davis)

I tend to think of Long-tailed Tits as being generally sedentary birds. So it was nice to catch one at my ringing site in east Bristol that was originally ringed over 30km away in Wiltshire. Not a bad journey for a feathery ping-pong ball on a stick -Michael Davis

2. Black-headed Gull

10-02-21 Norwegian- ringed Black-headed Gull, Sea Mills (William Earp)
The bird above is a female, ringed on 14-04-2016 in Oslo. It was reported in April 2018, and in April and May 2020, still  in the Oslo area.
On 10 February 2021 it was on the muddy bank of the River Trym as it joins the Avon at Sea Mills. This was during a cold spell - subsequent searches have failed to relocate it.
With thanks to Peter Rock for putting us in touch with the CR-ringed Gull scheme in Norway
