01-12-18 Saturday - Short-eared Owls

Cooler, grey and wet once again - not many reports but some surprisingly nice photos taken in the gloom.

NORTH SOMERSET

Ham Green:
Balcony birds today - Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long-tailed Tit, 1 Nuthatch, and some cautious Chaffinch that stayed in the bushes.

Portishead:
Lots of fishermen and no sign of Purple Sandpipers.
Female Blackcap in my Redcliff Bay garden, the first seen there for some weeks - the mid-autumn males were apparently just passing through.

Goldcrest, Blackbird, and Robin all singing with 120++ Redwing in among the yew and flying over

Bath - St John's Church:
2 Peregrine - the pair keeping a close watch on the tower nest sight - can be seen in the live web cam

Barrow Tanks:
2 Bewick's Swan (Tank 2), 3 Common Sandpiper

Blagdon Lake:
5 Pintail (3m), 1 Great White Egret, 133 Lapwing, gulls into roost and a large flock of Linnet.

7 Goosander (2 m., 5 f.), 1 Bittern (flying towards Herriotts at 13:25), 6 Cattle Egret (in field on the west side of B3114 about 100m south of junction with the Ubley Road), 1 Little Stint.

8+ Goldeneye.

Heron's Green:
7 Black-tailed Godwit.

Moreton:
Peregrine, 2 Water Pipit associating with 3+ Meadow Pipit.

Stratford:
ad. m. Lesser Scaup, 4 f. Goldeneye, 3 Black-necked Grebe, 2 Black-tailed Godwit.
