27th July '17 Thursday - Spoonbills

Weather:  Infrequent but heavy showers.

Two, possibly 3 Spoonbill and a Spotted Redshank
Out of area but close at Slimbridge - for the second day. Pectoral Sandpiper.

Such an unusual bird - out of area (Taunton).

Albino Robin 27/07/2017 somewhere nr Taunton.

BRISTOL

Finzels Reach:
3 Peregrine, 2 juv and the female (nearly sure, but no bins to confirm)


SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE


Oldbury Power Station:
13 Canada Goose, 2 Ringed Plover, a Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Dunlin, even more Chiffchaff than of late, one Lesser Whitethroat, and 2 Redstart inc one juv,

Littleton Warth;
Nice ringing session today. Seventy Two birds caught, with the species as below.
Great Spotted Woodpecker, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Cetti's Warbler, Long-tailed Tit, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Blackcap, Garden Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat, Reed Warbler, Wren, Blackbird, Robin, Dunnock, Greenfinch.

New Passage/Northwick Warth:
74 Canada Goose, an Egyptian Goose, 2 Little Egret, 30 Lapwing, 2 Ringed Plover, a Whimbrel, 45 Curlew, 6 Turnstone, 15 Dunlin, 3 Common Sandpiper, 30 Redshank, 3 Swift, and 2 Yellow Wagtail.

Severn Beach:
3 recently fledged Whitethroat and a new Wheatear the highlight of an morning visit.

Sparrowhawk in the garden again - that's the 3rd day running!
But the Greenfinch and Bullfinch escaped.

14 Mute Swan, 30 ad & juv Shelduck, 50+ Mallard, 22 Little Egret, 3 Grey Heron, 2 Spoonbill, 26 Oystercatcher, 2 Ringed Plover, 3 Whimbrel - pos 5 more but too quick to call, 140+ Curlew, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, Turnstone, 2 ad Knot, 40 Dunlin, 6 Common Sandpiper, a Spotted Redshank, 180 Redshank, 300+ Black-headed Gull, 1 Kestrel, 40+ Swallow, a 'was it or wasn't it' a Grasshopper Warbler, Wheatear, Yellow Wagtail, 20+ Pied Wagtail.


RESERVOIRS:

Blagdon Lake:
2 Little Egret at Hellfire Corner and a mystery raptor that is having its identity scrutinised.

Chew Vaalley Lake:

Heron's Green:
188 Canada Goose, 2 Marsh Harrier, Buzzard the 'white' one, Whimbrel, Redshank, and the 2nd sum Yellow-legged Gull.

Moreton:
Marsh Harrier, Green Sandpiper, 4 Great Black-backed Gull, 2 Jay, 20+ Sand Martin, 12+ House Martin and lots and lots of Reed Warbler
