3rd September '17 Sunday - Black Terns

Grey, windy, showers then drizzle - but there's always somebody out there.

Tortworth Lake:
3 Mallard with 3 young, 29 Tufted Duck, 1 Cormorant, 4 Little Grebe with 1 young, 20 Coot with 2 youngish, 2 Moorhen, 1 Kingfisher, 30 Martins, 1 Grey Wagtail

Whitfield House – Abbotside Farm (near Cromhall):
2 Buzzard, 2 Green Woodpecker youngster, a parent heard calling only, Swallows, Martins, 

Oldbury Power Station:
juv Curlew Sandpiper at Shepperdine with flock of Dunlin and Ringed Plover.  1 Wheatear.

Chipping Sodbury Common:
1 Tree Pipit, 8 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Wheatear, 9 Whinchat, 10 Redstart, juv Woodchat Shrike, 3 Lesser Whitethroat, 6 Whitethroat.

NORTH SOMERSET:

Portishead marina:
3 Cormorants.

Nailsea:
1 Wheatear on the reporter's driveway.

Bleadon:
1 m. Sparrowhawk, 1 m. Kestrel, 3 ad. and 10 juv Moorhen.


BELOW M4 & BANES

Willsbridge:
1 Dipper.

Paulton:
2 Buzzard, 3 Moorhen, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Green Woodpecker, 17 House Martin,
4 Chiffchaff, 1 Jay.
(at the sewage works)  7 Grey Wagtail.


RESERVOIRS:

Blagdon Lake:
1 Black-necked Grebe, 1 Little Egret, 2 juv. Hobby, 1 juv. Little Ringed Plover, 9 Ringed Plover. 1000+ hirundines, mainly House Martin.

adult Little Egret - yellow slippers (Lee@Wildwood)
Chew Valley Lake:
Little Egrets, Hobby, Snipe.

Moreton:
7 Black Tern, 3 Common Tern

Herons Green:
Great White Egret.

Herriott's Bridge:
3 Great White Egret, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 2 juv Black Tern.
