28-11-20 Dusky Warbler, Chew Valley Ringing Station (Rich Andrews)

This bird appears to be only the third record for Avon, and a first for CVL [ Source: Birds of Avon, An Annotated Checklist - see sidebar]. It has just missed the chance to appear in the new book Birds of Chew Valley Lake, which is being launched next Tuesday - see bottom of this post for details of how to attend.

Garden - 1 male Blackcap, 3 Fieldfare

St Werburgh's:
Great Spotted Woodpecker on back garden bird feeder, Grey Wagtail by stream under Church Path and Goldcrest foraging in Yew tree nearby. Big noisy flock of House Sparrows in hedge behind Miners' Arms pub

SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE


Oldbury Power Station:
1 f Black Redstart

New Passage/Northwick:
200 Black-tailed Godwit, male and female Merlin (together), Firecrest

Almondsbury:
1 flyover Woo0dcock, Redwing

Chipping Sodbury:
Garden - 1 f Blackcap

Wick:
1 Dipper

NORTH SOMERSET

Tickenham:
2 Raven, 1 Mistle Thrush, 1 Song Thrush, 5 Redwing

Backwell:
Moor Lane – 1 Buzzard, 55 Starling (both occupying same tree!), 5 Fieldfare.

Nailsea: 
Youngwood Lane – 5 Little Egret (fly-over, assume to Backwell Lake?), 1 Sparrowhawk.



28-11-20 a consolation Goldcrest, Sand Point (Karen Jayne)

Sand Point/Bay:
3 Chiffchaff, 2 Firecrest, 9 Goldcrest, 5 Fieldfare, 13 Redwing  (No sign of Pallas's Warbler today).
