Resident birds now seem to be waking up and becoming territorial: Great Tit, Dunnock, Robin, Mistle Thrush and Blackbird all in song. Pair of Blackbirds lurking around overhanging creeper where they started nesting last Feb. Two Redwing, Six Raven sparring aerially, Blackcap (m) caught whilst ringing.
A few ‘continental’ Blackbird expected to disappear from now on.
A Great Tit ringed here as a juvenile on 6th August 2018 was recovered on 31st December 2020 at Thorganby, near York. Unlike Blue Tits, Great Tits tend not to disperse far so this is an extraordinary record.
