13-05-21 Thursday - Nightjar, yesterday

 A dismal day - chilly, murky and mostly raining with a light NE wind.  Very few birders bothered to venture out into the gloom.

BRISTOL

Bower Ashton:
2 Swift, 1 Buzzard, 1 Peregrine (heading towards the Gorge), 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Rook, 9 House Martin, 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Blackcap, 1 Whitethroat, 4 Song Thrush singing.


SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Willsbridge valley:
2 Dipper - at least one fledgling

Severn Beach:
Murder by the sea? - fledged juv. Starling attacked by Magpie, either stunned or killed as the body subsequently vanished.

Yate:
Ridge Woods: Lesser Whitethroat singing


NORTH SOMERSET

Gordano:
Nightjar flushed yesterday afternoon (12th), and later seen hawking insects.

Clevedon - Yeo:
1 juv. Lapwing, 1 Ring-necked Parakeet, 5 Reed Warbler.


BELOW M4 & BANES

Paulton:
1 Hobby

Clandown Bottom:
1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Blackcap, 1 Spotted Flycatcher.
