26-06-21 Saturday - Black-winged Stilts

Warm and muggy after overnight rain.  Overcast morning with sunny spells and lots of rain-laden cloud but it stayed dry.  Light easterly wind.  Temperature rose to over 20°C, especially late in the day when the wind dropped and the sun came out.

2 Swift, 2 House Martin


New Cut, Southville:
1 flyover Raven


Sea Mills station:
7 Redshank, 1 Black headed Gull, 1 GBB Gull, 6 LBB Gull, 1 Grey Heron, 6 House Martin (still nest-building, well behind schedule), 2 Whitethroat.


Withywood:
5 flyover Raven, probably a family




SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Pilning Wetlands:
c.60 Shelduck, 1 Garganey, 2 Shoveler, 10 Mallard, 2 Moorhen, 3 Coot, pr. Black-winged Stilt20 Lapwing, Green Sandpiper, 3 Hobby, 4 Raven, 10 House Martin, 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Reed Warbler, 1 Blackcap, 1 Whitethroat, 10 Starling, Pied Wagtail, 10 Goldfinch, 1 Reed Bunting.

Severn Beach:
Peregrine.


NORTH SOMERSET

Sheepway/Portbury (BBS):
31 species including 8 Swift, 2 Stock Dove, 6 Collared Dove, 4 Herring Gull nests on a warehouse roof with 9 downy young between them, 3 flyover Cormorant, 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 2 Raven, 2 Swallow (far fewer than expected), 3 singing Chiffchaff, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Blackcap, 3 Whitethroat, 1 Goldcrest, only one Wren - they've stopped singing, several juv. Robin, 1 Bullfinch. 

Clevedon - Yeo:
Canada Goose (and 7 juvs.) 22 Mute Swan, c.40 Shelduck  (plus broods: 12, 11 10 and 8), 110 Mallard, 3 Tufted Duck, 9 Swift, 2+ Coot, 6 Oystercatcher, 6 Lapwing, 2 Whimbrel, 45 Curlew, 1 Common Sandpiper, 42 Redshank, 110 Black-headed Gull, 25 Herring Gull, 40 LBB Gull, 6 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Buzzard, 4+ Swallow, 1 Chiffchaff, 6+ Reed Warbler, 60+ Starling (post-breeding flocks), 20 Linnet.

Cleeve - Kings Wood:
1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Jay, 2 Marsh Tit1 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 1 Goldcrest, 4 Wren, 1 Nuthatch, 1 Treecreeper, 2 Song Thrush, 1 Chaffinch, 1 Greenfinch, 2 Siskin.

Goblin Combe:
adult and juvenile Spotted Flycatcher.
