29-12-21 male Gadwall cosying up to female Mallard, Backwell Lake (Rob Martin)
Backwell Lake:
4 Canada Goose, 21 Mute Swan, 26 Shoveler, 5 Gadwall, 20 Mallard, 2 Tufted Duck, Muscovy Duck, Water Rail (heard), 12 Moorhen, Coot, 130 Black-headed Gull at 15.00 (all gone by 16.15),  6 Cormorant, 53 Little Egret into the nocturnal roost (counted in between 16.06 and 16.45), c75 Jackdaws to noisy roost, Raven, Cetti’s Warbler heard, plus pre-roost gathering of Starling.

(Please note that Little Egret counts need constant viewing from the car park, as some birds go out of view on arrival. This may account for some of the recent low counts. Also important to watch till about 30 minutes after official sunset time - 16.10 this evening)

210 Canada Geese, 2 Mute Swan, 4 Shoveller, 40 Wigeon, 10 Mallard, 2 Teal, 1 Grey Heron, Penduline Tit (third bird not seen/reported today), Bearded Tit heard, 1 f Stonechat, 1 Reed Bunting
Note - best access route to area where Pendulines are being seen is via Hutton
