22-08-24 Thursday - Curlew Sandpiper

Temp 14°C to 18°C - Overcast with some light rain, gusty SW winds and currently some very high spring tides.  Brighter and sunny after lunch but cloudy and windy again by evening.

BRISTOL

New Cut:

12 Mallard, 8 Woodpigeon, 3 Common Sandpiper (roosting on fallen branches opposite Bathurst lock), 17 Black-headed Gull, 9 Herring Gull, 17 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 3 Cormorant (on roost trees by Gaol Ferry bridge). 3 Carrion Crow, 1 Wren, 7 Starling, 1 White Wagtail.

SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Northwick Warth/Pilning Wetlands:
(saltmarsh flooded this morning by the very high tide)
 6 Teal, 2 Shoveler, 34 Oystercatcher, 30 Ringed Plover, 3 juv Little Ringed Plover, c.100 Curlew, 1 Whimbrel, 2 juv Black-tailed Godwit, 9 Turnstone, 2 Dunlin,  110 Redshank, 2 Little Egret.

Severn Beach:
c.150 Ringed Plover, 1 Turnstone, 1 juv  Curlew Sandpiper, c.150 Dunlin, 1 juv. Med Gull, 1 juv. Yellow-legged Gull, 2 ad Common Gull over the estuary.

NORTH SOMERSET

Clevedon:
Garden: 1 Feral Pigeon, 1 Herring Gull, 3 Magpie.

East Dundry:
50+ Linnet.

Weston-super-Mare, Bourton, Oldbridge River:
2 Little Grebe

Herriotts inc. Pool:
1 Black Swan (category D - escape), 8 Shoveler, 1 Pintail,  1 Lapwing, 2 Black-tailed Godwit, 8 Green Sandpiper, 1 adult Yellow-legged Gull.
