28/3/16 Tufted Duck with a female Scaup (Bob Brewer)

This is how Aythya hybrids occur...

Summary:
A few seabirds seen today on the coat-tails of storm Katie. 2 Eider off Anchor Head of particular note, this species is pretty scarce in Avon.
The Smew was still at Chipping Sodbury (2 day long-stayer), plus a flyover Red Kite too.

Bishopsworth (Bristol):
Crox Bottom: 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Jay, 2 Raven, 2 Goldcrest, 5 Long-tailed Tit, 3 Chiffchaff, 1 Grey Wagtail, 5 Goldfinch.

City Docks (Bristol):
1 Great Crested Grebe, by the SS Great Britain.

Charfield:
Huntingford Mill: 6 Redpoll, by the engineering works on the Little River Avon.

Chipping Sodbury:
1 flyover Red Kite 2.30pm to south.

Bradley Stoke:
Three Brooks NR: 1 Mute Swan pair nesting, 2 Little Grebe, 2 Water Rail, 1 Chiffchaff.

1 Sandwich Tern off the yacht club this morning, 6 Chiffchaff.

New Passage-Northwick:
Shore & wetland: 4 Mute Swan, 1 Canada Goose, 30 Shelduck, 4 Shoveler, 6 Tufted Duck, 2 Little Egret, 12 Coot, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 3 Ringed Plover, 2 Dunlin, 3 Black-tailed Godwit, 70 Redshank, 70 Sand Martin, 1 Swallow, 2 Grey Wagtail, 1 White Wagtail, 100 mixed Pied Wagtail/Meadow Pipit, 4 Water Pipit.

Severn Beach:
8 Common Scoter, 2 Gannet, 15 Kittiwake this morning.

Portbury Wharf:
Pools: 1 Shelduck, 35 Wigeon, 6 Gadwall, 10 Teal, 2 Shoveler, 12 Tufted Duck, 5 Little Grebe, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Oystercatcher, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 4 Chiffchaff.

Marina: 6 Redshank, estuary side of the lock gates this morning, 1 Raven also.
Boating Lake: 3 Mute Swan, 1 Greylag Goose, 4 Canada Goose, 7 Tufted Duck (6m, 1f).

Clevedon coast:
Dowlais: 3 Sand Martin, 1 Cetti's Warbler.

W-s-M:
Anchor Head: 1 Greylag Goose, 2 Eider (Paul Bowyer), 21 Common Scoter, 4 Gannet,  1 Sandwich Tern down 11.12am.
Birnbeck Pier: 1 Gannet up this morning.
Old Town Quarry: 2 Raven, 1 Blackcap.
Worle Headland: 1 very early Hobby reported (previous earliest 30/3/90). Hopefully, someone else will see it too.

Keynsham:
Waitrose: 1 singing Chiffchaff.

Newton St Loe:
1 Barn Owl, 3 Tawny Owl this evening.

Barrow Tanks:
1 Kestrel, 1 Green Woodpecker, 10 Sand Martin, 1 Swallow, 10 Chiffchaff, 1 Stonechat.

Blagdon Lake:
1 fly-through Osprey (per Bristol Water).

Little Gull: 1 out on the lake this morning (Sean Davies, Ian Stapp).
Sandwich Tern: 1 fly-through this morning (Chris Craig).
