NORTH SOMERSET
Portbury Reserve:
Several Gadwall which appeared to be paired off. Quite a few Wigeon, Canada Geese on the larger pool. No Teal at all. Several Shelduck on the estuary. 1 Snipe on the saltmarshes. 1 Yaffle, which I’ve not seen there before. A Mistle Thrush singing loudly and I think territorially from the top of a tree. A few Redwing. Robins very visible everywhere - they’re largely noisy but hidden round where I live at the moment. 1 Chiffchaff preening. Cheered to see several Greenfinch - it’s often good for Greenfinch and did not disappoint. Some House Sparrows in some brambles by the little carpark. Dru Brooke-Taylor
