*****   Message from the editor of the Avon Bird Report:

Dear Photographer

With the new year it is time to think about the best bird photographs of 2017 for possible inclusion in the next Avon Bird Report. We need photos taken in 2017 and in Avon, of both common and unusual species. Some species have had a good showing in the past while others have fared less
well, but photos of unusual behaviour of any species are also welcome.

Would you like to contribute? I hope so - if so, could you e-mail me your best shots and we will consider them for inclusion. We usually get many more than we can publish, so if you have submitted photos in the past that have not been published I hope this will not discourage you from submitting what you have. If possible in the first instance it is best to send low resolution versions, and for those we use I can get back to you for top quality ones. We are looking for reasonable quality, but if the photo shows something unusual then the quality question does not arise. Also if you know of any photographers I have not contacted or who are new to the area, then could you please forward this request on to them. I am assuming that most photographers use digital methods now, but if you are still using the old silver technology, prints can be scanned into the system.

Happy New Year and regards,        Harvey Rose   (h.e.rose@bristol.ac.uk)
