12-04-18 Thursday - Pied Flycatchers

Cold and misty/foggy, with a chilly NE wind but at least no rain.  Apparently the weather didn't deter either the birds or the birders.

Lamplighters Marsh, Shirehampton:
2 Shelduck, 4 Common Sandpiper, 6 Woodpigeon, 2 Collared Dove, 1 Kestrel, 1 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 1 Wren, 7 House Sparrow, 3 Goldfinch.

Coombe Dingle:
2 Blackcap (m & f), 1 juv. Goldcrest, 3 Bullfinch. 

Long Ashton Yanley Lane:
m. Pied Flycatcher.

Withywood - garden:
2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Jay


SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Oldbury Power Station:
Water Pipit, 1 m. Ring Ouzel (corner of Lagoon 3), 10 Willow Warbler singing.

Visible migration counts (7:30 - 9:30 am):
Goldfinch to NE at c.150 per hour, c.200 Linnet, c.400 Meadow Pipit (inc. a flock of 140), a flock of 12 House Martin, c.15 Swallow, c.10 Sand Martin, 1 Yellow Wagtail, c.15 Pied Wagtail. 


Shepperdine:
2 Skylark, flock 30 Swallow. 7 Chiffchaff. 3 Greenfinch. 4 Chaffinch. 2 Reed Bunting.

Up to 6 Siskins turned up in a Severn Beach garden (Rod Holbrook)
New Passage/Northwick:
pr Pintail, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 5 Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, 3 House Martin, 5 Yellow Wagtail, Wheatear, Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, Siskin, constant passage of Goldfinch.  Report of 60 White Wagtail.
