20-04-18 Friday - Garden Warbler

A murky, misty morning which turned in to another lovely warm day with clear skies, sunshine and a light breeze.

Clifton Down:
1 Wren

Stoke Lodge:
1 Buzzard, 1 Nuthatch, 2 Blackcap.

Greystoke Ave, Southmead:
3 circling Buzzard.

Patchway:
Lesser Whitethroat singing from mature scrub at the back of Ravenscourt Road, Patchway.



SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Pilning Wetlands:
1  Yellow Wagtail; 2 + White Wagtails; 3  Black-tailed Godwits.

NORTH SOMERSET

Nailsea:
1 Stock Dove on the roofs of houses in Ploughed Paddock, Nailsea (including ours). Last seen here (including our garden) on a number of occasions between 15th July - 21st August 2017.

Clevedon-Yeo:
Dowlais: 2 White Wagtail on the seawall plus a couple of fly over Yellow Wagtail
The Gargany pair were at the pool again this morning along with a single Black Tailed Godwit and an unidentified/unusual Goose.


Uphill:
3 Whitethroat & 2 Lesser Whitethroat also Reed Warbler heard. 1 L Egret, 2 Peregrine, usual common warblers


BELOW M4 & BANES

South Stoke:
Tiny pool in Engine Wood: a pair of Mandarin. Field nearby: 2 Canada Geese (neither of these species seen here before by reporter).

2 Willow Warbler, 4 Dunnock, 20 Swallows, 2 Mistle Thrush, 1 White Wagtail, 1 Reed Bunting

20-4-18 Migrant Chiffchaff with pollen on its head at Chew (Ian Stapp)

4 Blackcaps, 3 Chiffchaff and 1 Willow Warbler on the Bittern Trail. 2 Common Sandpipers on the main dam. 4 Common Sandpipers and a Green Sandpiper on Herons Green Dam and 3 Sedge Warblers singing on the pool side but secretive.  A Garden Warbler in song on Moreton-Stratford Lane.

Late report: 5 Scaup (2 drakes), 7 Goldeneye (2 drakes), 3 Sandwich Tern, 1 Common Tern, 8 Common Sandpiper, 9 Sand Martin, 1 Cuckoo, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 1 Marsh Harrier , 1 Hobby 

1 Swift high over Chew Stoke
