19-6-18 Tuesday - Redstarts on Mendip

Overcast, muggy despite fresh wind with a touch of rain on it.

Interesting behaviour - Crows anting, apparently (Ian Stapp)

Coombe Dingle garden:
2 Bullfinch (1m, 1 juv. Looks like they bred nearby)
1 Greenfinch, 2 Goldfinch.

Hawkesbury Upton:
1 Marsh Tit, 1 Corn Bunting, 6 Yellowhammer.

2 p.m. 30+ Swift feeding over the moor.

144 Canada Goose, 84 Mute Swan, 5 Shelduck + 4 ducklings, 11 Teal, 64 Gadwall, 9 Pochard, 6 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Water Rail (calling at Moreton hide), 7 GBB Gull, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker,  2 Jay, 2 Raven, 20+ Carrion Crow. 2 Garden Warbler, 2 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Blackcap, lots Reed Warbler, 4 Chiffchaff, 20+ hirundines, 12+ Chaffinch, 5 Reed Bunting.

2 pairs of Reed Bunting.

Egyptian Goose at Chew (Dan Hill)

Out of area - just - BOC walk at Velvet Bottom:
3 Buzzard, 1 Swift, 5 Swallow, family of Redstart, singing Blackcap and Whitethroat, Willow Warbler, Linnet.
