Postscript from blagdonlakebirds: 'This is a bird we spotted at Blagdon on 9 Nov 2018. It was ringed near Northwich, Cheshire on 18th May 2016 by Merseyside Ringers. The metal ring number is GR72855' - with thanks to Nigel Milbourne for this information
