04-10-19 Friday - Firecrest

A cooler, wet, blustery morning as the remnants of Hurricane Lorenzo swept up the estuary.  Drier but no warmer later.  Temp around 16°C.

1 Kingfisher.

St George's - Garden:
1 Sparrowhawk (m), Long-tailed Tit, 1 Bullfinch (m)

SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Oldbury Power Station:
2 juv. Common Tern (downriver at High Tide - latest OPS record).
14 Grey Plover at Pillhead Gout, c.20 Swallow, c.20 House Martin, 1 Wheatear.

New Passage/Northwick:
2 Greylag Goose, 1 branta/anser hybrid (probably Canada Goose x Greylag Goose), 1 (1W) Peregrine taking a Dunlin, 4 Grey Plover, 15 Ringed Plover, 25 Black-tailed Godwit, 30 Knot, 600 Dunlin, 1 Little Stint, 1 Common Sandpiper, 3 Swallow, 1 Cetti’s Warbler (heard).

Severn Beach:
1 Wheatear.

NORTH SOMERSET

Portishead:
3 Meadow Pipit at Battery Point this morning.

Kenn:
1 Grey Wagtail feeding around garden pond.

Sand Point/Bay:
1 (1W) Mediterranean Gull flying up river, 1 Firecrest (very vocal) in trees at back of the NT car park.  Also c. 10 Chiffchaff, c.10 Goldcrest.

Bath:
8 House Martin over the recreation field in Weston.

RESERVOIRS

Chew Valley Lake
9 Great White Egret, 2 Cattle Egret, 1 juv. Marsh Harrier, 1 Yellow-legged Gull, 400 House Martin, 50 Swallow.

Villice:
30 Shoveler, 2 Lapwing, 1 Common Sandpiper.

Herriott's - inc Pool:
5 Common Gull.
