Brick Pits - c 420 Starling leaving their roost in the reeds this morning. Also 2 Little Egret, 100+ Black-headed Gull, 1 Kingfisher

NORTH SOMERSET

Sheepway Lane and Portbury Docks:
Winter Bird Survey highlights -  1 Buzzard, 5 Moorhen, 350 Woodpigeon, ( several large flocks - winter movement?), 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Jay, 2 LTTit and a nice mix of finches inc. 2 Bullfinch. (Some common garden species were surprisingly absent, e.g. Dunnock, Great Tit etc.)

Chew Valley Ringing Station:
This morning's ringing included a controlled Blue Tit (ie it was ringed somewhere other than here), 3 Chiffchaff and a Reed Bunting. Earlier in the week a BH Gull ringed here in Sept 2015 was re-spotted with a bit of careful ring number reading in the field.
