Misty, wet morning with showers and drizzle - warm and humid.  Much brighter by late afternoon with a fresh warm southerly wind pushing the weather front away.

Portishead:
LIDL car park:  Oystercatcher calling a persistent warning on a roof top, with too many Herring Gulls around - possibly after nestlings.

Clevedon-Yeo:
"Well up the R.Yeo I came across a Grey Heron that had caught a large eel which it had on the bank. A Buzzard came over, shoved off the heron and tried to eat the eel. But it gave up as the eel was writhing about too much. The heron then reappeared and had another go, but it again failed and the eel got away!"

Some breeding news from CVRS:  A Reed Warbler ringed here in the nest early in July was recaptured earlier in the week - a confirmed successful fledging.  A f. Bullfinch appears to be currently incubating a clutch; this is her 2nd year of confirmed breeding here.
