Brian not long back from a family holiday to Costa Rica which inadvertently turned into a partial birding trip too as he found that he had accidently packed his camera and binoculars as well.

Brian stayed near Playa Ocotal on the north-west Pacific coast 21 March-4 April plus a few trips further afield.

Brian tweeted a lot of stuff while he was there, here are some of his 'highlights of highlights':-
Laughing Falcon

Double-striped Thick-knee

Long-tailed Manakin & Keel-billed Toucan

In all, he managed 108 new species during the brief spells he was sober.

Len Ingram 1940-2016 - Obituary

Len Ingram 1940-2016
gentleman birder, old school and sadly missed
We are very saddened to report the death of Len Ingram on Thursday 14 April.

Len had been very poorly for some time but bore his illness with great patience and dignity.
We extend our condolences to wife, family and friends at this sad time.

Len was Wiltshire-based but often strayed over into Avon with his birding pal Don Smith.

The Tribe has lost a diamond-coated stalwart birder this week.

Sightings 11/4/16

Summary:
Persistent and heavy overnight rain grounded lots of birds at many places, including some new arrivals.
New species of the Spring were, 2 Whimbrel (Portbury/Planet Chew), 1 Whitethroat (Anchor Head) and 7 Yellow Wagtail (Portbury Dock/Northwick Warth).
Also pleasing to report were 1 Red Kite, 1+ Osprey, 4 Little Gull, 1 Sandwich Tern, 3 Grasshopper Warbler, 2 Ring Ouzel and another Pied Flycatcher.
Large numbers of Chiffchaff-Willow Warbler also reported but surprisingly few Hirundines considering the overcast and murky weather.
