Sightings 10/4/16

10/4/16 Ringed Plover & Dunlin at the Portbury coast this morning (Mrs Trellis)
Not many small waders on the Avon coast at present but things should pick up in late April/early May with Sanderling and hopefully Little Stint and Curlew Sandpiper.

Summary:
4 Red Kite today and another Pied Flycatcher.

Stockwood (Bristol):
Open Space: 2 Buzzard, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Coal Tit, 2 Long-tailed Tit, 3 Blackcap, 1 Mistle Thrush, 6 House Sparrow, 8 Goldfinch.

Marshfield:
Rushmead end: 2 flyover Red Kite 8.20am (Martyn Hayes).

Chipping Sodbury:
Common: 2 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 7 Skylark, 1 Chiffchaff, 4 Willow Warbler, 3 Fieldfare, 1 Redwing, 4 Redstart, 3 Meadow Pipit.

1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Short-eared Owl again (lagoon 3), 3 Cetti's Warbler, 3 Willow Warbler, 8 Blackcap, 1 Sedge Warbler.

2 Mute Swan, 30 Shelduck, 8 Teal, 1 Little Egret, 1 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 25 Oystercatcher, 30 Curlew, 1 Green Woodpecker, 5 Skylark, 8 Swallow, 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Pied Wagtail, 3 Meadow Pipit, 1 Linnet.

Portbury Wharf:
2 Little Ringed Plover, 22 Redshank, 1 Little Owl (Sheepway side), 2 White Wagtail, 2 Water Pipit.

Clevedon:
Wain's Hill: 1 flyover Peregrine. Spotted by Molly Pannell, aged 7.
Other stuff here, 1 Swallow, 6 Siskin, 2 Redpoll, 60 Goldfinch, 30 Linnet, 2 Yellowhammer, migration to north.

Also, 1 flyover Red Kite towards Kingston Seymour this morning (Jason Williams).

Sand Pt:
A male Pied Flycatcher in the car-park this morning (finder Brian Thompson). It later relocated towards the house at the end of the car-park.
Other stuff, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Wheatear, 3 Tree Pipit, 8 Siskin. Plenty of Willow-Chiff and Blackcap around too.
10/4/16 Pied Flycatcher (Brian Thompson)
Brian dipped on the Blagdon bird early, then found this one
we think that is very rude and thoroughly undeserved
The bird is carrying a ring, not all of which Brian could read clearly but 'LOND Z4814' was noted.

WeBS: 4 Shelduck, 20 Mallard, 5 Teal, 5 Shoveler, 32 Tufted Duck, 12 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 30 Great Crested Grebe, 14 Coot, 2 Snipe, 2 Common Sandpiper.
Other stuff, 1 Peregrine, 2 GBB Gull, 10 Willow Warbler, 2 White Wagtail.

Blagdon Lake:
2 Egyptian Goose, 2 Goldeneye, 250 Sand Martin, 1 House Martin.

Compton Martin:
3 Marsh Tit, garden.

Planet Chew:
CVRS: 1 flyover Red Kite this morning (Chris Craig), 1 Redstart here too.
