17th June '17 Saturday - Be out of the sun

Red Kite


Stockwood Open Space:
3 Collared Dove, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Goldcrest, 8 Long-tailed Tit, 4 Blackcap, 4 Whitethroat, 2 Song Thrush, 1 Greenfinch, 7 Bullfinch.

One Red Kite at 6:30 tonight - being mobbed by stooping Peregrine pair and lots of gulls.


Oldbury Power Station:
Red Kite 12.20 -  straight across the river, 1 Male Cuckoo - calling, calling, always calling.
The Shelduck ducklings back at Shepperdine  - all 21 of them.

New Passage/Northwick Warth:
5 Teal, 6 Tufted Duck chicks, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, 9 Redshank, 2 Black-headed Gull and one rare Roe Deer

Overheated Peregrine juv on pylons 'wings drooping'.

Bath, St Johns Chuch:
Peregrine juvenile PY flying confidently around St John's and is venturing further afield.


Litton Resrs:
Correction- Not a Tufted Duck.
This is an immature female Scaup - Note the dark 'nail' at the tip of the beak and the pale crescent at rear of ear coverts. Alas no facial blaze (thanks go to the duckmasters)

Do you remember the Red-backed Shrike found in Horton last month? (29th) Well the same or another has surfaced near Cricklade on Wiltshire Wildlife Trust land at Blakehill.
