Sightings 10/6/16

Paddington to Swindon:
67 Red Kite counted from the train (Tim McGrath).
Regular along the M4 corridor in recent years but the birds still show no real sign of expanding farther westward and into Avon. Bummer.

Stockwood (Bristol):
Open Space: 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 8 Long-tailed Tit, 2 Chiffchaff, 4 Blackcap, 1 Song Thrush.

Ashton (Bristol):
Winterstoke Rd: 1 flyover Red Kite 1.10pm (Phil Baber).
About 12 Red Kite sightings in Avon so far this month.

Marshfield:
1 Kingfisher, 3 Green Woodpecker, 4 Great Spotted Woodpecker + 1 young bird, 1 Raven, Nuthatch pair bred, 1 Grey Wagtail.

South Glos:
10/6/16 Barn Owlets (Darren Robson)
4 ringed by the Hawk & Owl Trust
New Passage-Northwick:
15 Gadwall, 7 Teal, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Little Egret, 3 Grey Heron, 2 Little Grebe, 4 Lapwing, 7 Curlew, 45 BH Gull.

Chittening Warth:
Sea Bank: 2 Peregrine.

Clapton-in-Gordano:
Clapton Moor: 2 Cetti's Warbler.
Naish House: 10+ pairs House Martin, 8prs natural nests, 2prs using nest boxes, 4 juv Siskin on the feeders.

Planet Chew:
68 Gadwall, 10 Teal (numbers starting to build), 1 Little Egret, 1 Hobby, 1 Peregrine, 3 Lapwing, 9 GBB Gull, 1 Cuckoo, 2 Raven, 1 singing Willow Warbler, 17 juv Pied Wagtail (they've suddenly appeared).
