Cuckoos in Avon – May 2016
Table only shows dates when birds were recorded rather than total number of birds. Planet Chew had a particularly strong month with max.6 birds heard calling on 8^th. Extrapolating the data from our spreadsheet, we estimate only about 25-30 birds involved.

1 flyover Red Kite 10.15am to north, past Haw Wood and into south Glos (per Brian Lancastle).

The Lodge: 1 flyover Red Kite 9am (Vic Polley).

Cold Ashton:
A46/A420: 1 flyover Red Kite, afternoon (Sue Watson).

New Passage-Northwick:
12 Mute Swan, 4 Canada Goose, 27 Gadwall, 1 Teal, 4 Shoveler, 7 Tufted Duck, 2 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 4 Little Grebe, 2 Redshank, 40 BH Gull, 50 Swift, 2 Siskin.

Portbury Wharf 1/6/16:
The Wigeon pair still, 1 Oystercatcher brood, 3 Curlew, 3 Redshank, 2 Stock Dove.

Clevedon Town:
2 circling Peregrine 5.45pm.

Lulsgate:
Airport: 2 flyover Peregrine mid-day.

Keynsham:
Manor Woods: 2 Green Woodpecker, 10 Chiffchaff, 1 Willow Warbler, 10 Blackcap, 1 Song Thrush.

Blagdon Lake:
1 Hobby, 1 Cuckoo, 1 Spotted Flycatcher (Hellfire Corner).

Planet Chew:
23 Mute Swan, 1 Greylag Goose, 13 Canada Goose, 2 Barnacle Goose, 18 Shelduck, 2 Wigeon still, 61 Gadwall, 5 Shoveler, 1 Buzzard, 1 Redshank (Herriott's), 3 Cuckoo, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Cetti's Warbler, 4 Chiffchaff, 12 Blackcap, 1 Spotted Flycatcher (Bittern Trail), 2 Reed Bunting.
