Cold and grey to start but the sun came out and it was warmer but still quite fresh in the wind

The Bath falcon takes to the air in an attempt to discourage the River Avon gulls from coming too close to her nest. 

Pensford:

Compton Martin, Bickfield Farm:
26 House Sparrow. No sign of any House Martin nest activity at the usual sites.


RESERVOIRS:

Litton Reservoir:
18 Mallard ducklings, 9 Tufted Duck, 1 GC Grebe, 5 Little Grebe, 3 Buzzard, 2 Raven, 4 Grey Wagtail 

Blagdon Lake:
2 Common Sandpiper, 3 Grey Wagtail on the dam, 3 GBB Gull out on the water.

Chew Valley Lake:
Black Swan, 9 Shelduck, 4 Mallard broods, 6 Shoveler, three sightings of a Hobby (probably just one individual), one Coot brood, 1 Ringed Plover, 1 2nd-yr Yellow-legged Gull, male Cuckoo (very mobile around the lake), 200 Swift, 20 Sand Martin, 80 House Martin, 23 Garden Warbler

Dam:
6+ Goldfinch, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Mistle Thrush, 1 Ringed Plover (fly in around & out),
2 Shelduck,  30+ Swift,  7 House Martin

Woodford:
1 Blackcap (car park), 1 Mistle Thrush, 200+ Swifts (over the lake), 2 Buzzard, 1 Cuckoo (calling)

Heron's Green:
1 Whitethroat, 40+ Swift, 30+ Swallow, 10+ House Martin, 1 Buzzard, 1 Raven, 7 House Sparrow

Moreton:
3 Blackcap, 3 Garden Warbler, 4 Chiffchaff, 1 Jay, 1 G S Woodpecker, 1 Green Woodpecker,
3 Stock Dove, 2 Shelduck, 1 Cuckoo (calling woods by the cottage),1 Cetti's Warbler, 4 Goldfinch,
3 Reed Warbler, 2 G BB Gull

Herriotts End:
1 Black Swan (with a Mute Swan), 4 Reed Warbler, 1 Cetti's Warbler,  2 G BB Gull, 1 Cuckoo (calling back left side pond), I Cattle Egret

Other:
250+ swift today. At least 3 Cuckoo calling around the lake. 3 nest boxes with Coal Tit broods - seem to be doing well this year (info from Mr D Warden)
