28-09-20 Monday - first Redwing and Fieldfare

Relatively chilly first thing (down to 4°C). Not windy, not cold, just dull.

Oldbury Power Station + Shepperdine:
12 Wigeon, 1 Gadwall, 2 Teal, 4 Avocet (Pillhead Gout), 5 Lapwing, 7 Ringed Plover,18 Grey Plover, 4 Curlew, 1 Whimbrel, 1 Black tailed Godwit, 20 Turnstone, 3 Curlew Sandpiper, c 300 Dunlin, 2 Little Egret, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Kestrel, 4 Swallow,  6 Fieldfare  - flew over high heading SW Earliest ever for OPS, beating 9th Oct 2018 + 2004 - 1 Wheatear, 2 Stonechat 

Yate - garden:
4 Woodpigeon, 1 Green Woodpecker - over, 1 Raven - over, 3 Blue Tit, 1 Great Tit, 3 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Robin, 4 Goldfinch

NORTH SOMERSET

Clevedon:
Nocmig recording - Canada Goose, probable Water Rail, Barn Owl (twice), 3 Redwing, Meadow Pipit

Clevedon-Yeo:
Dowlais Farm - 200 Shelduck, a few Mallard, 4 Oystercatcher, 57 Curlew, 150 Redshank, 3 Skylark, 6 Chiffchaff, Long-Tailed Tit flock with Chiffchaff,  1 Wheatear, 9 Meadow Pipit,  80+ Linnet

Also 1 probable Lanner Falcon [+ falconer]

Traffic lights - 250+ Starling on the wires

Clutton:
Red Hill - 1 Red Kite, with an accompanying squadron of Jackdaws, west of the A37 at 10.30am

Chew Valley Ringing Station:
A male Blackcap ringed here in Sept 2018 turned up for the first time, and a Reed Warbler was ringed.
