Lots of Pied Wagtail

Most birders at home dreaming of birding holidays well away from the old county of Avon


11-12-16 Robin at Dyrham Park (Martin Tayler)
Bristol, Bishopston:
Garden feeder: 1 male Blackcap, 4 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Wren and usual mix of Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Great and Blue Tit and House Sparrow and a Redwing in a tree

Bristol, Combe Dingle garden:
First Greenfinch this Winter, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Collared Doves, 12 Goldfinch, 
1 Chaffinch, 1 Blue, 1 Great and 1 Coal Tit.

Portbury Wharf:
24 Teal, 30 Gadwall, 60 Shoveler, 63 Wigeon, 52 Lapwing, 25 Snipe (including 1 all-dark melanistic Snipe)

Lox-Yeo Valley (between Banwell and Winscombe):
Mixed flock of (close to) 400 Redwing and Fieldfare.

Bath, River Avon from Widcombe to North Parade bridge:
1 Grey Heron, 13 Mallard (of which just one was a female), 1 Kingfisher who had just caught a fish. 4 Moorhen,  lots of Goldfinch and Long-tailed Tits, 7 Sparrows. Then in the 1st pond on the K&A canal another Grey Heron with 2 more Moorhens. Back home in Oldfield Park garden the recent male Blackcap seems to have departed but today being replaced by a female.

Paulton:
50 Black-headed Gull, 1 Common Gull, 26 Blackbird, 2 Jay, 2 Song Thrush, 20 Redwing,
27 Pied Wagtail, 2 Meadow Pipit, 6 Goldcrest, 4 Chiffchaff, 8 Chaffinch, 11 Linnet, 4 Goldfinch, 
5 Bullfinch
The Sewage Works:
2 Meadow Pipit, 2 Grey Wagtail, 50 Pied Wagtail

Does everyone check the Pied Wagtails now to see if there is a Masked Wagtail such as in Paul Bowerman's photo from Camrose in Pembrokeshire recently?
