30th Dec '16 Friday - Jack Snipe


Some bright spells in places but generally dull with drizzle. Many lakes still frozen.

1 Black Redstart, 3 Stonechat, 50+ Redwing, 30+ Fieldfare

Tickenham:
Tickenham to Cadbury Camp and return:
1 Little Egret, 3 Grey Heron, 3 Buzzard, 3 Herring Gull, plenty Woodpigeon,
4 Collared Dove, 2 Green Woodpecker, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Kestrel,
4 Magpie, 18 Jackdaw, 50 Rook one flock, 14 Carrion Crow, 12 Blue Tit, 10 Great Tit,
3 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Nuthatch, 4 Wren, 140 Starling 2 flocks, 5 Blackbird, 5 Fieldfare,
60 Redwing, 8 Robin, 2 Stonechat, 3 Dunnock, 12 House Sparrow,

Backwell Lake:
1 Tufted Duck, 1 Little Grebe, 4 Gadwall, 22 Shoveler and 100 BH Gulls standing around on the ice

Yatton, Stawberry Line:
4 Teal , 1 Little Egret, 2 Heron, 1 Buzzard, 1 Peregrine, 1 Stock Dove, 50 Redwing,
1 Song Thrush. 10 Fieldfare, 2 Greenfinch (a notable species now), 4 Bullfinch

Yatton, Wemberham:
1 Teal, 2 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Buzzard, 2 Green Sandpiper, 1 Snipe, 1 Stonechat, 10 Redwing, 50 Fieldfare, 1 Grey Wagtail

Clevedon-Yeo:
21 Mute Swan , 65 Canada Goose (dawn roost at mouth of Kenn), 10 Shelduck (probably others in the murk!), 120 Wigeon, 10+ Teal, 30+ Mallard, 2 Little Egret,  32 Oystercatcher, 17 Grey Plover,   ~100 Curlew, 20 Turnstone, 700 Dunlin,
260 Redshank (180 at Kenn + 80 up Yeo - maybe more here), 2 Jack Snipe,
100+ Black-headed Gull, 2 Raven, a few Skylark, 1 Stonechat

Uphill:
Albino blackbird. Black eyes not pink.

Marshfield:
8 Stonechat around Marshfield this afternoon, 4 Northfields lane, 2 Orchid lane,
2 Down Road.

3 Buzzard,  3 Stock Dove, 2 Kingfisher, 2 Yellowhammer, 20 Meadow Pipits, 1 Bullfinch,

2 Marsh Tits, 
Sadly only 1 Swan, female, due to dog attack!

4 Great White Egret 2 Little Egret, 4 Goldeneye, 5 Goosander, 4 Shoveler, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Snipe (pond), 1 Water Rail (pond), 1 Stonechat (pond), 1 Buzzard, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Common Sandpiper 1 Bittern (12.50 flushed from the old road left side of the bay by 2 G- W Egrets, flew along in front reeds for 25 yards then dropped in to the reeds.)
