14th April '17- Reed Warbler

Overcast and cool with the occasional sunny period.

First Whimbrel and Reed Warbler at Oldbury Power Station
Smew  at Chipping Sodbury Common
Osprey north over Wains Hill, Clevedon 7.40

Oldbury Power Station: 
1 Whimbrel (first of the year), 2 Reed Warbler (first of the year), 1 Sedge Warbler,
1 Cetti's Warbler, 21 Chiffchaff, 5 Blackcap, 1 Willow Warbler, 6 Swallow,
3 Great Spotted Woodpecker (one still hammering away at streetlight, 2 others trying to compete - not very successfully), 20 Shelduck, 2 Wigeon, 1 Peregrine - on nest shelf

Hoar Gout (Vosa Pool): 
1 Little Grebe, 1 Cetti's, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Greenfinch

New Passage/Northwick Warth: 
Hard work singing Reed Warbler struggling to be heard above the bank holiday traffic, 
2 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 f Wigeon, 8 Ringed Plover, 6 Dunlin, 4 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Little  Egret, 43 Turnstone, 45 Redshank, 2 Common Sandiper, 35 Sand Martin, 12 Swallow, 4 House Martin, 
1 Siskin (fly over), Yellow Wagtail, Ruff (to north)

Chipping Sodbury Common: 
Late morning at C.S.C. the female Smew still present. 
2 Lesser Whitethroat (one seenand another singing), also a Blackcap in song.1Yellow Wagtail, 1 House Martin, 8 Swallow, 8 Blackcap

4 Snipe,  6 Blackcap, 4 Willow Warbler, 1 Sedge Warbler, 8 Cetti's, 1 White Wagtail, 3 Swallow,

Weston Airfield:

2 Little Egret, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 3 Whitethroat, 2 Sedge Warbler, 1 Stonechat

BELOW M4 & BANES

Bath, Weston Park:
Three Buzzard (pair and one mobbed by three gulls), 2 swallows.

Newton St Loe: 
8 (1m) Teal, 2 Buzzard, 4 Coot, 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Raven, 2 Swallow, 3 Chiffchaff, 6 Blackcap, 2 Mistle Thrush, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Pied Wagtail

Hewish, Mays Green Lane:
3 Swallow (first this year)

RESERVOIRS

Barrow Tanks:
3 Greenshank on Barrow no2 tank (2nd day) plus 1 Oystercatcher, 11 Common Sandpiper, 1 White Wagtail and the Long-tailed Duck now looking rather dapper.

Chew Valley Lake:
Dippers still showing well around the Chew streams. At least 6 individuals seen today.
CVL early: f Marsh Harrier flew to East Shore, 9 Common Sandpiper, 3 Green Sandpiper.

Denny Island:
3 Cattle Egret and 2 Little Egret

Herriotts:
Green Sandpiper

Stratford:
2 Scaup, male & female

Chew Valley Ringing station:
1 male Redstart ringed this morning
