12-05-18 Saturday - Spotted Sandpiper

Started cool with high cloud, grew more overcast but warmed up.  Little wind.
Very quiet for news today - has everyone gone to look at the Spottie?

Henleaze:
Swift - a close encounter

Brislington:
2 Swift over the garden

Stockwood Open Space:
Tawny Owl calling, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming, and 1 Green Woodpecker yaffling.


SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Yate - Kingsgate Park:
2 Greylag Goose, 2 Gadwall, 1 Kingfisher, 1 singing Whitethroat, 1 Siskin

Littleton Brick Pits:
1 m. Cuckoo.

Little Stoke:
2 Swift (screaming over the garden - love that sound)

Bradley Stoke:
1 Peregrine - at rooftop height - prey looked like a juv Starling.

New Passage/Northwick:
1 f. Teal, 1 Little Egret, 2 Great Crested Grebe (on the river), 4 Ringed Plover, 3 Little Ringed Plover, 3 Dunlin, 2+ BH Gull, a few Swifts and hirundines, 1 Grey Wagtail, White Wagtail, more Reed Warbler.

NORTH SOMERSET

Portbury Wharf:
Spotted Sandpiper, Oystercatcher, Lapwing, 2 Little Ringed Plover, Redshank, Black-tailed Godwit, Little Owl down Wharf Lane (thanks to Paul Chapman for letting us know what ELSE was there!).

Weston-Super-Mare:
1 Sparrowhawk (hunting) 2 Buzzard (displaying)

Yatton:
4 Swift

Nailsea - Nowhere Wood:
5 Raven - inc 3 newly fledged young

Bath:
Red Kite over Northend.
3 Buzzard, 2 Green Woodpecker, 1 Jay, 2 Raven.
