24-05-18 Thursday - Blue-headed Wagtail

End of the warm spell: muggy and overcast with light rain intermittently. Late migrants in evidence on the coast and elsewhere.

24-05-18 flava Wagtail Pilning Wetland (all photos Paul Bowerman)

1 flava Wagtail which seems possibly to be an intergrade between Blue-headed and Grey-headed; looks similar to Blue-headed but has dark lores, some spotting on chest and quite dark ear coverts. Today's dull light unhelpful in judging these fine points.

Breeding successes - 2 pr Canada Goose with goslings, 2 prs Mute Swan with 3 + 5 cygnets + four further birds on nests.
