Started bright and sunny as yesterday, giving way mid-morning to lengthy showers. Rest of day dull and dank, until clearing in evening. Temperature starting at 18.5, falling away to 14°C

Finzels Reach:
5 Canada Goose, 2 Mute Swan, 1 Mallard, Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, 1 Collared Dove, 3 Peregrine, Magpie, a House Sparrow colony including some fledglings

Redland:
3 Swifts tonight around 8 pm. Observer comments: ' There's really never been a year when I've seen so few.'
Is this a general feeling?

10 new Mallard ducklings on the lake with mother + Great Spotted Woodpecker nest, with 1+ very noisy young inside and female nearby

Tortworth Lake:
15 Mallard with 2 broods - 7 young, 2 Mallard/hybrid variation with 1 brood - 3 young, 14 Coot with 2 broods - 3 young, 2 Little Grebe. 2 Moorhen with 1 brood - 1 young, 1 Cormorant,  1 Great Spotted  Woodpecker

Chew Valley Lake Ringing Station:
Juveniles starting to make themselves known. 4 Chiffchaff, 1 Garden Warbler,  2 Blackcap,  6 Robin. One Blackcap ringed 'in-the-nest' here on 15th May, and probably fledged somewhere around 1 week ago. A nice record showing breeding success
