Sightings 8/4/16

8/4/16 White Stork at Mark Moor, Somerset (Mike Trew)
it flew off later and relocated to Slimbridge as far as we know
Summary:
A massive tide in the estuary but it didn't produce much in the way of new birds.
The Smew still at Chipping Sodbury, 1 flyover Red Kite at Walton Common, 1 Goshawk at Lower Woods, Little Ringed Plover at New Passage and Portbury, 9 Purple Sandpiper at Portishead, a Short-eared Owl at Oldbury and 3 Redstart at Portbury of note. 
The main lakes remained fairly quiet.

Open Space: 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Buzzard, 2 Green Woodpecker, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Long-tailed Tit, 12 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 8 Greenfinch, 15 Goldfinch.

Eastville Park (Bristol):
3 Green Woodpecker, 12 Willow Warbler.

Fishponds (Bristol):
Lodge Causeway: 1 singing Willow Warbler.

Redland (Bristol):
Greenway Rd: 1 Grey Heron, 1 Stock Dove.

Wickwar Quarry:
1 Tawny Owl, 2 Willow Warbler.

Lower Woods:
1 flyover Goshawk (Phil Quinn). We've asked for a statement and signed confession....

Chipping Sodbury:
The Smew still (intermittently since 12 March), 1 Grey Heron, 2 Kestrel, 1 Peregrine, 3 Fieldfare, 1 Redstart, 5 Redpoll.

Oldbury Power Station:
WeBS: 2 Canada Goose, 10 Teal, 4 Tufted Duck, 2 Oystercatcher, 10 Curlew, 9 Redshank, 40+ Turnstone.
Other stuff, 3 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Short-eared Owl (coastal path), 32 Chiffchaff, 4 Bullfinch.

Aust Warth:
1 Kestrel, 1 Peregrine, 85 Oystercatcher, 1 Jack Snipe, 1 Snipe, 81 Curlew.

Northwick:
1 Little Owl, village lanes.

New Passage-Northwick:
6 Canada Goose, 50 Shelduck, 10 Gadwall, 14 Teal, 10 Shoveler, 13 Tufted Duck, 100 Oystercatcher, 5 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Ringed Plover, 2 Dunlin, 19 Black-tailed Godwit, 80 Curlew, 100 Redshank, 25 Turnstone, 5 Swallow, 5 White Wagtail, 2 Water Pipit.

Sandy Lane: 1 flyover Grey Heron, 1 Buzzard, 1 Tawny Owl calling, early hours. 

Portbury Dock:
92 Shelduck.

Portbury Wharf:
