A scarce migrant duck in Avon and always a delight to see.

Mega alert: A Broad-billed Sandpiper at Gwent, Goldcliff today...it could fly across to us.
Only 2 Avon records 1983 and 1988...so another one is definitely overdue.

Migration Count 6-8am: 1 Little Egret, 35 Bar-tailed Godwit, 16 Whimbrel, 8 Curlew, 1 Common Gull, 26 LBB Gull, 392 Swallow, 165 House Martin, 5 Meadow Pipit, 220 Goldfinch, 8 Siskin, 60 Linnet (Matt Hobbs). All to north-east.

Other stuff, 1 Little Egret, 2 Peregrine, 1 Grey Plover, 20 Dunlin, 51 Bar-tailed Godwit, 20 Whimbrel, 8 Curlew, 3 Lesser Whitethroat, 11 Yellow Wagtail, 8 Siskin.

Portbury Dock.
1 Whinchat, 1 Redstart.

Sand Point:
4 Grey Plover, 100 Dunlin, 50 Whimbrel, 150 House Martin, 10 Chiffchaff, 5 Willow Warbler, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Redstart, this morning.

13 Mute Swan, 27 Canada Goose, 2 Egyptian Goose, 2 Shelduck, 1 Grey Heron, 11 Common Sandpiper (dam), 600+ mixed Sand Martin/Swallow, 23 Linnet, late afternoon.

2 Mute Swan, 7 Teal, 9 Mallard, 11 Tufted Duck, 1 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Jay, 20 Swallow, 8 Chiffchaff, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 2 Grey Wagtail.
