Sightings 1/2/16

Black-headed Heron & Pied Kingfisher (Bob Brewer)
Bob is still overwintering in Africa. He said he is not coming back until the first Sand Martin appears at Planet Chew.


Very strong winds in the estuary all day but only producing Kittiwake of note.

St Andrews (Bristol):
Park: 2 Long-tailed Tit, 20 Redwing, 1 Mistle Thrush, 4 Goldfinch.

Eastville Park (Bristol):
1 Firecrest again. near Wickham bridge, along the walled lane at the edge of the clearing.

Stapleton (Bristol):

Duck pond: 1 Wood Duck still.

Oldbury Power Station:
c.300 Kittiwake roosting on the estuary here this evening (Pete Hazelwood). Very unusual event.

New Passage-Northwick:

Portbury Wharf:
Pools: 4 Mute Swan, 4 Canada Goose, 112 Wigeon, 21 Gadwall, 1 Teal, 34 Shoveler, 9 Tufted Duck, 10 Little Grebe, 23 Lapwing, 12 Snipe plus 1 Chiffchaff along Wharf Lane.

Boating Lake: 3 Mute Swan, the Greylag Goose, 1 Pochard, 8 Tufted Duck.
Springfield Rd: 10 Long-tailed Tit.

Willsbridge Mill:
2 Goldcrest, 12 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Dipper, 1 Grey Wagtail.

Blagdon Lake:
1/2/16 Black-necked Grebe, Wood Bay (Brian Thompson)
