Avon Gorge 16/2/16:
The female Peregrine showing exceptionally well, especially to the rock climbers apparently.

Vicarage Rd: 1 Tawny Owl calling 3am.
Crox Bottom: 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Jay, 2 Goldcrest, 7 Long-tailed Tit, 4 Song Thrush, 1 Redwing, 1 Greenfinch.

Eastville Park (Bristol):
1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Firecrest still, 1 Blackcap.

Charfield:
Little River Avon: 35 Stock Dove, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Dipper, 2 Nuthatch, 1 Treecreeper, 25 Chaffinch, 15 Siskin, 25 Linnet.

Marshfield:
Northfield/Rushmead: 1 Grey Heron, 12 Red-legged Partridge, 1 Sparrowhawk, 9 Buzzard, 1 Lapwing, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 20 Skylark, 30 Redwing, 8 Stonechat, 4 Meadow Pipit, 3 Greenfinch, 4 Bullfinch, 60 Yellowhammer, 10 Corn Bunting.

7 soaring Buzzard.

New Passage-Northwick:
8 Mute Swan, 33 Canada Goose, 74 Shelduck, 300 Wigeon, 27 Gadwall, 90 Teal, 3 Pintail, 8 Shoveler, 3 Tufted Duck, 2 Little Egret, 2 Little Grebe, 800 Dunlin, 40 Lapwing, 8 Snipe, 140 Curlew, 50 Redshank, 2 Water Pipit still.

Severn Beach:
Pipes scrub: 1 Kestrel, 4 Song Thrush, 5 Dunnock, 1 Bullfinch.

Willsbridge Mill:
1 Buzzard, 4 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Coal Tit, 2 Goldcrest, 16 Long-tailed Tit, 6 Nuthatch, 5 Treecreeper, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Chaffinch, 2 Greenfinch, 2 Goldfinch,.

Sand Bay:
3 Dartford Warbler (2 at Beach Rd, 1 at car-park, Paul Gregory). Other stuff, 2 Water Rail, 1 Jack Snipe, 20 Snipe, 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Stonechat, 1 Water Pipit.

Uphill:
1 Great White Egret, in grassland near the sand dunes adjacent to the river Axe (George Rabin). Yellow bill seen but very large size of bird seemed to rule out Cattle.
We had a fantastic run of GWE records at the lakes at the end of 2015 and into January 2016 but then these stopped abruptly around 11 Jan, presumably as the water levels reached their peak. One fly-past at OPS (16th) was out last record.
Other stuff, 2 Short-eared Owl.

Keynsham:
2 Buzzard, 2 flyover Raven, 11 Magpie, 15 Goldfinch.

Blagdon Lake:
2 Egyptian Goose, 2 Black-necked Grebe, 1 Buzzard, 14 Lapwing, 2 Brambling.

Planet Chew:
20 Shelduck, 9 Goldeneye, 2 Little Egret, 1 Little Grebe, 5 Buzzard, 14 Lapwing, 1 Common Sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpiper, 1 Green Woodpecker, 3 Jay, 3 Raven, 4 Goldcrest, 2 Cetti's Warbler, 6 Long-tailed Tit, 2 Mistle Thrush, 15+ Robin (a lot around today), 15 House Sparrow, 2 Stonechat, 2 Treecreeper, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Reed Bunting.
Herriott's end: 2 Water Rail, 12 Siskin, CVRS ringing area.
