Quite a few birders have made the 'insurance policy' trek to see this bird just in case it gets accepted as a genuine migrant. Don't hold your breath though...


Fairly quiet everywhere, typical of late February. The Spring rush isn't too far away though....

Open Space: 2 Green Woodpecker, 4 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 18 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Nuthatch, 20 Blackbird, 5 Song Thrush, 2 Stonechat, 6 Greenfinch, 15 Goldfinch, 5 Bullfinch.

1 Short-eared Owl, lagoon 3 this afternoon.

Orchard Pools: 2 Mallard, 1 Buzzard, 1 Coot, 2 Water Rail, 1 Snipe, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Cetti's Warbler.

Hallen:
2 Buzzard.

Easter Compton:
Dyer's Common: 3 Mute Swan, 1 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 5 Skylark, 90 Starling, 2 Redwing, 25 Goldfinch, 4 Reed Bunting of note.

Abbots Leigh:
Sandy Lane: 1 Jay, 7 Rook, 1 Coal Tit, garden.
Pool: 1 Tawny Owl calling this evening.

Ham Green:
A369: 1 Barn Owl out hunting 5.30am this morning.
